  • Should an implant healing cap be installed or delayed?

After a successful dental implant, if crowning must be delayed due to cost, is it better to open the gum, by a dentist of course, and install a healing cap, or to leave the gum intact until a crown can be paid for? In either case, how long before problems are likely to result?

  • What aspect of modern life makes it so hard to find time to actually participate in in the events of a club.?

People become inspired to join a club. They pay dues and buy whatever equipment etc. to participate in club events. Then, they show up once or twice a year, if at all, when activities are available two or three times a week.

Everybody has an occasional illness or graduation or vacation trip, but what is keeping you away?

  • Can a pulpectomy be performed from the side of a tooth rather than drilling through the crown?

A tooth with a single canal has decay at the gum line causing infection. If the artificial crown is removed for a root canal, the root would not support a new crown. Can a pulpectomy be performed through the cavity site at a 90 degree angle in order to delay extraction and prevent bone loss at the tip of the root?

  • What do you see with your eyes closed?

    Everyone should try this !

Go into a room with where there is a lamp surrounded by darker areas.

Look in the direction of a darker area.

    Close your eyes.

Slowly turn your head toward the light, keeping your eyes closed.

Relax your mind so that you are not concentrating on any idea or image, and not actively looking for anything.

Some people will see something very unnatural and surprising, others will see nothing unusual.

If you see something odd, tell us here what it is.

  • Do you have a conscience?

For years this forum and others have been peppered with references to rude behavior, bullying, and worse. I have an hypothesis that ethics is being "educated" out of our culture and that most younger people may never have been taught to think of the consequences of their actions upon others.

So, I'm seeking thoughtful, reflective, and respectful answers concerning feelings about one's own guilt, the importance of such education, and how to live in a world of borderline psychopaths that is evolving now.

  • How does modern cultural socialization work?

If Gen-Y people, as has been proposed by some, will never grow up and will remain childish into the future, then the standard dynamic of social behavior must shift to allow for this.

It is obvious that these young people largely bristle with hatred and veiled or open disrespect for Boomers and elders. An insight to WHY would be useful.

However, the shift in the social dynamic will be in how they interact with one another, which should be visible now and is not expected to change over time through their development as a segment of human culture.

Can they trust each other? Do they ignore each other? Are they capable of working together in informal structures. Do they have a concept of pro-social behavior?

Your thoughts please. Cite any studies that have been posted.

  • What kind of world are the 1% trying to create for their grandchildren to live in?

The logic of a movement like the protests occurring now is instill fear in the oppressors that they might be creating an "Us Against Them" society which would leave them vulnerable and outnumbered 100 to one.

Presumably, they are human and love their families and think about the future at least as much as the rest of us.

Institutionalizing the terror and isolation they live under for all time to come would seem to be something they would not do if they had another choice.

Over-population of the planet is probably the driving concern. If they don't control that, then nobody will. Right?

If they are motivated by Love for their grandchildren, then should we not respect that Inspiration? Can we provide them with a choice in how the world is to be managed for sustainability and mutual freedom?

There is a solution to this problem. If not, the coming Revolution will get them and then starvation will get the rest of us.

  • Telephone off-hook message is not the same?

When the phone is left off the hook for a moment, the message says that "All lines are busy ..." now, it used to say "If you'd like to make a call ...". Obviously, saying the lines are busy is not true in almost all cases.

Does anyone know why it is different. Is BIg Brother messing with the phone company?

  • Are you one of those business people who has been saying you can't get competent and reliable job candidates?

It has been proclaimed for many years already and you probably believe it. But Why?

Ten per cent unemployment in the USA !!!

College graduates living in shelters !!

    Highest under-employment ever !

Highest productivity per worker ever !

What gives? Who is allowing themself to be lied to about the reality that must exist here?

How is it that the good workers are so well hidden for so long from those who urgently need them?

What are you doing to fnd them?

  • Would it be better if North African nations hammered out Constitutions, or just evolved Government by Twitter?

Constitutional Government has proven an excellent method of organizing large groups of people in a common effort to manage the challenges presented by Nature and by Human Nature, but it requires long slow debate and compromise. which is not always entirely peaceful. Perhaps an era of more democratic, locally flexible, "living" government will grow out of the technology which enabled the revolutions in the first place.

If a stable, satisfying, and functional government develops due to the availability of communications technology, It might lack many of the protocols and earmarks of the traditional Nation-State. Perhaps terms of office and a having only one leader would be outmoded. Perhaps borders would be negotiable or unnecessary. Perhaps none of the Economic and Political "-isms" would make sense anymore, and with such a fluid structure, perhaps Military amd Religious factions would find it impossible to maintain and useless to strive for domination of such areas. Is it happening? Should it be encouraged or stopped at any cost?

  • Are the Salaries of US White-Collar workers in an Inflation Bubble that is about to Burst?

White-Collar pay is generally 2 to 3 times Blue-Collar pay, and the rest of the world is catching up to the US in education and technology. Also, lots of US workers in well-paid jobs are less skilled than displaced under-employed low wage workers and foreign workers who earn much less. What makes the US White-Collar class worth what they are getting? Is the US Economy about to spiral down into something resembling the 1950's or will it grow enough to offer opportunities to those who are prepared and waiting to fill them? Please be concise.

  • While driving somewhere, have you ever been surprised to find you made a turn off your route?

Not a turn to avoid an accident or a turn to avoid road work or traffic, just smoothly making a turn for no reason at all that you did not in any way intend or plan to make. Then shortly realizing you don't know why you are going that way and driving on to where you had started to go in the first place.

Has it happened more than once?

  • Router Configuration problem on home network?

I'm experimenting with a home network. I put two routers between my PC and my DSL "Modem" unit, in sequence - (LAN to WAN). Internet works fine. The routers all have different native IP addresses for configuration.

I can access the closest router from IE8 using its address. I can access the second router through the first router using another address. But I cannot access the DSL unit through the setup using its unique address.

I know I can rewire the network to gain access to the DSL unit for temporary access to control functions.

What I need to know is - What is there about the DSL unit that prevents it from responding to its address when one or more routers are between it and the PC?

Also, can I configure one of my other routers to similarly prevent LAN side access to its control functions and port open/close functions without further limiting or losing Internet access?
