I just got out of prison and I need help getting my son?

I have a 8 year old son my sons father and I have had shared custody since he was 4. He has had him and I have regular visitation. I went to prison for 22 months and almost immediatley upon my incarceration he moved to a different state without telling me. It states in our agreement hes not to leave the state without the approval of the judge which hes never had. Now im out and hes only bringing him to me for a couple days xmas va cation and pretty much only when he can afford it. What should I do? I cant afford a lawyer but I want my son to live with me.

the police will do nothing as it is a civil matter. you will have to file a contempt motion in court.

If you wanted your son to live with you then jail was not in your best interest.

How you fix this now is beyond my comprehension.

Before this gets too far along, were the roles reversed and it was him who was in jail, the overwhelming opinion would be that he has no rights to insist on more visitation.

Get ALL of your 'shared custody' paperwork together and when he brings you your son - go to the cops; show them the paperwork, especially the part where he's NOT to move out of state, and have him arrested.
