Dayz Standalone on windows 8.?

Yes you should be fine. I play the regular DayZ Mod on my Windows 8 laptop all the time. I haven't transferred the Standalone files over yet so cant actually say 100% that it does work, but theres no reason why not.

In response to the other guy; its good but needs a lot of improving. Everyone should bear in mind that what has been released is an Early Access Alpha version that's going to be full of bugs. Us playing and providing feedback helps them make it better over time but dont download it expecting some perfectly working game, you wont get that, its doesnt have all its features implemented and lots of things are buggy and dont work properly.

The biggest pain in the a$$ on the Standalone is the blood/food/drink system. Theres no reason whatsoever for them to change the old icons but, at least for now, they have. At the moment, rather than icons which gradually drain if food and water (and blood when you get damaged) they just have your character tell you what they want; "I feel tired", "I feel hungry", "I feel thirsty". These messages get worse over time the longer you go without food or drink and eventually become "I'm extremely tired", "I'm dizzy", "I feel feint". Once these messages start appearing in red youre in real danger of passing out and that, at the moment, seems to be pretty much game over. I passed out earlier and it just gives you a black screen with "youre unconscious" on it, no timer or any indication of how long it will be until you wake up. I waited for 25 minutes until giving up and just respawning.

But most of its good. There are very few zombies at the moment so you can really just focus on finding things and playing around with what they do. Your character can do various things on-the-fly, most importantly changing weapons. It was always a risky business swapping weapons in ARMA2 DayZ as your character will stop moving in order to do it, but in the standalone you can bring up your gear and stay in it as long as you want and still control your character running, stopping, side stepping etc but you dont have the mouse control. You do have to stop if you want to eat and drink, but if you want to say swap your torch for your axe or vice versa then theyll do it while running which is extremely useful.

Anyway, its worth picking up as it is good fun, but like I said, youre buying an early version that does the basics and often doesnt work properly. Just bear that in mind when you start playing.

It will, I downloaded the ARMA II set recommended for Windows 7 and it worked for Windows 8, I downloaded the mod and it worked on W8...Tell me how good Dayz Standalone is, I'm getting it on Christmas...
