2 wet patches downstair ceiling. What should I do!?!?
Hi, we had an incident in our house. We were filling water from a large tub where we collect pure water with our purifer and I guess we forgot to turn it off. When we checked upstairs 15 min later, the bathroom was covered in water that were half an inch thick.! We did dry the entire bathroom (its a small bathroom) but we notice a leak in our lights downstairs dining room.. It was leaking and there are two wet spots on the top.The drippings just stopped but those two wet spots are still there. Do we just let those spots dry? The wet spots are about 4-5 inches long in a straight line (yes not circular). It wasn't a faucet leak or anything so we are positive its not going to happen again.
I'm sure this wont happen again but is this permanent damage? Do we need to replace the ceiling? Should we call the plumber? We have no experience with these types of situations.
Note: This is our first time having wet patches. Only happened when we forgot to turn of the purifier!

Im assuming you're ceiling is drywall,If so all you need to do is bore a small hole in the center of the leak
spots and let them dry out for about a week, once the spots are dry fill the holes with spackle and sand
the spackle after its dry(about 2 hours) Next get a spray can of stain block and spray the wet spots with
a few coats and let dry and then you can touch up the areas with a matching ceiling color

Just leave it alone to dry out. Eventually you mightr see a stain. If you paint the stain with an oil based undercoat paint (white) it will hold it back and that'll be the end of it.
