What is really going on in the Nigella Lawson / Charles Saatchi case?
Given the amount the PAs are accused of stealing is around £580,000, and both Nigella Lawson and Charles Saatchi are multimillionaires, why was this case brought when they knew it would mean washing all of their dirty laundry in public?
It cannot be about the money.
Anyone have insight?

Saatchi probably pressed the charges after his marriage turned sour in order to get Nigella to take responsibility for the spending of the PA's but seems she decided to play ball instead but of course as you mentioned, now her private affairs are being broadcasted nationwide.
What I have been waiting for however, which thus far has not been forthcoming, is for Nigella to suddenly 'recover her memory' so that this case is brought to a swift end in order that nothing else that harms her reputation, suddenly makes the headlines. A bit like Her Majesty did when she first accused Mr Burrell of stealing the late Princess of Wales' garments and then thought better of it after considering the damage Mr Burrell could do in court by giving his side of the story.
I guess the difference there would be that Nigella would subsequently be subject to prosecution for perjury whereas of course HM... well, I'm sure I needn't explain
