Never. I wasn't sure if it was real, but tis the season for fruitcake questions, so I Googled it. It does exist.

Despite the bad reputation, I'm open-minded, so I'd try it before condemning it. Who knows? It might be like a big yummy muffin. According to Wikipedia, it traditionally has nuts and is soaked in alcohol. So, what's not to love? One can always pick off whatever candied fruit one doesn't like.

I've had them. Never received as a gift. They're not the way people describe them. They're not like that rock hard hunk of overly sweet disgusting bread. It's just not that good.
