Is it horn dog or Whor dog?

I have heard this term used a lot. My boyfriend insists it's Whor-Dog. I am sure it's Horn-Dog. Which is it? Just curious, sitting here watching TV and it came up.

    The common terminology is horn-dog, not whore-dog, and it's slang.

    It's horndog (or horn dog or horn-dog). "Whor-dog" sounds like a misguided attempt to use a presumed original form of the expression, without having researched its origin.
