can i still use the printer with its USB cord even if i don't register the printer on my laptop beforehand?
my new laptop does not have a place for me to put CDs in, but my printer has a CD where it requires the laptop to register it first so when i print papers i can select this specific printer/location. but my old laptop broke so i purchased this new laptop, but it doesnt have a place for me to put CDs, but the printer does have an USB cord that i can use to plug to my laptop.
i was wondering, even if i dont put the CD in my new laptop to have it recognize the printer location later, can i just plug in the printer USB cord and print papers out? or is that not possible??

Typically you can't just plug it in and go. You need the drivers for it. Go to the company's website and download the driver for your printer. They've probably been updated anyway so you'll get the latest.

Printer does not need registration every time you install the software.
If you wish you can print the documents without installing the software by using the Universal Print Driver in USB

It may totally mess up the printer install, once the machine sees it with no drivers it can prevent it ever being seen again as new hardware. So go to the manufacturer's web site and download the installer.

The OS may have some built in generic drivers that can get the printer and or scanner working but its recommended that you use the manufacturers drivers. Download them from the Manufacturers website and install it.
