Univ. Washington or Univ. Colorado - Boulder?
I'm fairly certain I can get into both colleges.
I live in WA state (an hour away from UW).
I want to major in microbiology or biochem.
I'm not sure if I want to go to the UW mainly because I'm only an hour away from home (clingy parents, personal reasons). I don't like the idea that my parents can just call me and pretty much force me to go home.
However, the UW has extremely good undergrad programs for the majors I'm interested in and they offer a lot of research opportunities for undergrads.
CU Boulder has the campus life I want from my college. Relaxed, lots of extracurricular activities (snowboarding, hiking, etc.), and they also have a solid bio program (I think).
I think my main concern here is a good college life vs. a good college education. I think Colorado is one of the most beautiful states in the US and I love the Boulder/Denver vibe.
I just need a few opinions to help me choose. Thanks :)

I'm biased as I went to school in Boulder and absolutely love the campus. Ultimately, this is your college education so you should go out and experience the college life. You will also need to take into consideration the cost. If you are from Washington, your tuition would be lower and you may qualify for more scholarships/grants from UW.
Versus if you attended CU Boulder, your tuition would be higher (you can try for the Western Undergraduate Exchange to help cut down on your tuition), and you may not receive as many scholarships/grants from the financial aid office. If you don't mind taking out loans if needed, you should go with CU Boulder as you may be happier which could lead to a better academic life.
Sadly, most decisions comes down to money. Whether you can afford to attend CU Boulder should be one of your main factors. If money isn't an issue, honestly going to UW or CU Boulder probably wouldn't make a difference when applying for a job or graduate school.
