  • Liquid Stool After A Workout?

    GRAPHIC

I've had a cold the past week (same symptoms as the common cold) and it seems to be passing soon.

Today I was lifting weights - squats, and leg presses, and I had to use the restroom. I ended up evacuating my bowels of pure liquid - nothing solid. I came home and the same thing happened about 30mins later. Three hours later, I ended up having the same problem after dinner.

Could this just be the cold? Or maybe the work out? I've been working out for a few years now and today I did a bit more weight than usual, could that be it?

I had an omelette with milk (not expired - I checked when I got home), and I'm not lactose intolerant. Will this pass? I don't plan on seeing the doctor unless this persists.

  • Climate Change... Man-made?

So let's get this out of the way.. I'm a dumb person who will believe many well constructed arguments. This makes me prone to conspiracy theories. I'm still a senior in high school and have a love for science (AP Chem/AP Bio)

All my life, I've believed that humans are changing the environment - weather, acid rain, etc. etc. However, I know that the Earth's climate has ALWAYS been changing, I just assumed that the rate of increase in temperature has increased in the past century.

Recently, many people whose opinions I respect have begun denouncing climate change as man-made.

What's some evidence/your own opinion that supports either side? I'm just really confused haha.

  • Univ. Washington or Univ. Colorado - Boulder?

I'm fairly certain I can get into both colleges.

I live in WA state (an hour away from UW).

I want to major in microbiology or biochem.

I'm not sure if I want to go to the UW mainly because I'm only an hour away from home (clingy parents, personal reasons). I don't like the idea that my parents can just call me and pretty much force me to go home.

However, the UW has extremely good undergrad programs for the majors I'm interested in and they offer a lot of research opportunities for undergrads.

CU Boulder has the campus life I want from my college. Relaxed, lots of extracurricular activities (snowboarding, hiking, etc.), and they also have a solid bio program (I think).

I think my main concern here is a good college life vs. a good college education. I think Colorado is one of the most beautiful states in the US and I love the Boulder/Denver vibe.

I just need a few opinions to help me choose. Thanks :)

  • Why do we assume the universe follows our physics?

Let's first get this out of the way: I'm stupid. I'm 17 and have no real knowledge or grasp of physics or the universe. But I have questions. And I like to pretend I'm smart.

When people talk about the Big Bang Theory, most supporters don't know how "something can come from nothing", and most people against it argue that exact point.

Well how do we know the center of our universe follows the physics we've outlined? Has data been collected? Has the data made sense in a way that correlates to our understanding of physics?

My knowledge of this goes as far as AP Chemistry (never taken a Physics or Astronomy course) and listening to people like Neil Degrasse Tyson and Dr. Amit Gowami (but not understanding them lol)

  • Colleges with a good Bio program?

I'm going into my senior year of HS and I live in WA state. I don't want to go to colleges on the east coast. What are some good colleges with a good Biology undergrad program?

    My gpa is ~3.9

I took AP Chem and got a 5 on the exam.

I'm taking 3 AP classes this year.

I got an 1800 on the SAT.

Disregard finances, and just list a few colleges that might accept me, I'm having a hard time finding them myself. Any college (big or small) as long as it's on the west coast. Preferably list colleges outside of WA state (I know of most of the colleges here)

  • iTunes isn't showing my bought songs?

I frequently buy music off of my iPhone 4s because it's more convenient and I don't have to wait to transfer music. But I just checked my iTunes on my computer and none of the songs I've bought on my iPhone are shown bought on my computer.

I'm using the same account and the most recent iTunes. I'm using the same credit card to buy songs as well. I've authorized my computer and iPhone.

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

  • How to Authorize My Computer - iTunes?

I just got a new laptop and I'm having trouble accessing my music from iCloud on this laptop. When I try to download all the music from iCloud onto this new laptop, I get a message saying that my laptop is not authorized to download the music. When I go to Account Information from the iTunes store, it says "1 device is associated with this Apple ID and can download your purchases from iTunes in the Cloud" - the device being my iPhone.

    Please help!

  • Doggy Daycare help - problem dog?

I have an 11 month year old German Shephard. We got her when she was 6 months old and she was not properly socialized. She barks a lot (which most GSDs do) and she gets extremely nervous. We're worried that she's not a happy dog. She does terribly around other dogs (barking, aggressive, etc.) but she's very sweet around humans. We've tried training and that helped but not for socialization.

Any recommended doggy daycares that would help a "problem" dog? I live in Washington state, but if you just throw a few names out there I can look them up and see if they're reasonable.

    Thanks

  • AP Chem: Stoichiometry Help?

I have an AP Chem test tomorrow and I have NO idea how to solve this problem:

A compound containing only C and H is burned completely and produces 1.481g of CO2 and 0.303g of H2O. Determine the empirical formula of the compound.

That is the only thing that the question says. I know the answer is CH, but I really need to know how to find the answer.

    Thanks a lot

  • Is it possible for a DMT placebo effect?

I was wondering if its possible to have a psychedelic experience like a DMT or "shrooms" experience but on a placebo drug.

So to be clear, you give your friend a sugar pill but tell him that it's DMT, would it be possible for him to trip on it?

Trust me, I'm not planning on doing this, I'm just interested in knowing if it's possible to have psychedelic experiences on a placebo drug.

  • Should I Get Madden 13?

The last Madden game I had was Madden 10.

I really only play Madden for the Create a Player mode and the Franchise mode (but I don't do fantasy draft). I also like to play against my friends on Xbox Live. Should I get this game, I have the money to spend but I don't want to be disappointed.

  • Do doctors check for drugs in a standardized urine test?

    Here's the deal.

Over the weekend a few of my friends pressured me into smoking a bowl of weed. I got pretty high (not my first time being pressured). In 5 days, I have my annual check-up and I'm a minor living in WA state. I am worried that I will have to undergo a standard urine sample test as I remember undergoing a few years ago. What will the doctor(s) be looking for?

If they're find marijuana in my urine I plan on coming clean and telling them what happened.

  • Good Ideas on Kale Shakes?

I was listening to the Joe Rogan podcast, and he keeps talking about how wonderful the Kale shakes he drinks are. For many reasons (sleeping, energy, weight, etc.), I want to try Kale shakes. I don't care about taste, just about the effectiveness. Let me the ingredients that you use and what proportions to use.

Please actually give me YOUR recipes, not recipes you found online.

  • Why is Hemp (not cannabis) Illegal?

    I'm not talking about marijuana/pot/weed/etc.

I'm talking about Hemp as a plant. You can't get high off of it or turn it into hashish. It's the same species as cannabis, but it's totally different. It's easy to grow, insanely strong when weaved, and smells amazing. It would help with industry, economy, etc.

  • Enthalpy Change help!?

Calculate the change in enthalpy (kJ) for the following reaction:

    CH4(g) + O2(g) ---> CO2(g) + 2H20(L)

    I know that dH = mass * change in temp * C

But the equation doesn't give the change in temperature or specify the masses.

If you could explain what you did that would also help, thanks :)

  • Workout Plan Help: Running + Lifting?

    So here's the deal.

I'm 16, and I try to run two miles a day, except Sunday. Normally I run on a treadmill in my house, but when it's nice out I run outside. I run one mile in 7:40 (I know it's slow but that's why I'm running). My dad just bought some dumbbells (about 10lbs) and I decided to start using them.

So should I "lift weights" before or after running. I don't plan on "lifting weights" too extraneously... Or taking protein powder or anything like that. I'm just trying to get in shape and might as well work on my upper body.

    Extra Info:

I weigh about 165lbs and am 5'11"-6'0", I can do 6 pull ups, and I don't have any abs. I'm not fat or chubby, but I'm not skinny.
