Doggy Daycare help - problem dog?

I have an 11 month year old German Shephard. We got her when she was 6 months old and she was not properly socialized. She barks a lot (which most GSDs do) and she gets extremely nervous. We're worried that she's not a happy dog. She does terribly around other dogs (barking, aggressive, etc.) but she's very sweet around humans. We've tried training and that helped but not for socialization.

Any recommended doggy daycares that would help a "problem" dog? I live in Washington state, but if you just throw a few names out there I can look them up and see if they're reasonable.

Thanks

I think most people on this site are being overly reactive to your dogs problems. A lot of it may have come from your using the term 'dog daycare'. I think what you need is some kind of canine rehabilitation service. I had a GSD who I rescued at 10 (she lived to be 17 so I wouldn't say she had screwy genes) and had no socialization of any kind. She was loving around people but would attack any other dog if given the chance. Your dog is still young so I'm sure you have things you can do to help her, I would look up 'dog rehabilitation' in your area to see if that helps. We were able to use someone up here (Maine) to help our dog do better, they used something of an immersion technique and showed my dog how to be a dog. I read another article that used a warming up technique that I can link you to. Having a dog that is dog aggressive is frustrating to the owner because YOU know you have a great, loving dog, you just need to figure out how to let other people see that. I feel ya. Below is that link I mentioned.

Your dog has weak genetics nothing to do with not properly being socialized .I have a GSD that rarely barks well trained .

You cant do a lot about Screwed up Genetics the best you can do is try and manage it .

No trainer is going to be able to make your dog into something else .

My GSD was a 9 month old puppy Was never socialized and ended up being an army dog ,but he has sound genetics .

So find some one that can help you manage him ,

Most doggy daycares will not accept dog aggressive dogs. The liablity is too high. Your dog doesn't need to learn to play with other dogs. She needs to learn to work around and tolerate other dogs without going crazy. For this I would recommend a good training class.

your dog does not need doggie daycare, it needs obedience training ... what doggie daycare is going to take a large german shepherd that is not good with other dogs !!! where i live doggie daycare is for dogs that get along with other dogs ... the doggie daycare i use, every dog has to go through an interview with people and other dogs before they are even accepted into the doggie daycare ... and you need to understand socialization ... socialization is not playing with other dogs, a well socialized dog can ignore other dogs ... and that is training, not playing, that is required ... there is no way you have put that dog through every level of obedience training and still have a dog that barks, is aggressive, etc. ...

I'm not a dog expert but maybe try socializing her to the same species or puppies, or puppies from the same species. Try taking the puppy in your lap and having her sit with you and the puppy. I don't know anything about dogs really, but I hope this helps!
