Is it possible for a DMT placebo effect?

I was wondering if its possible to have a psychedelic experience like a DMT or "shrooms" experience but on a placebo drug.

So to be clear, you give your friend a sugar pill but tell him that it's DMT, would it be possible for him to trip on it?

Trust me, I'm not planning on doing this, I'm just interested in knowing if it's possible to have psychedelic experiences on a placebo drug.

Most scientists would now probably refer to this as a placebo response rather than a placebo effect. Small difference but very important it would seem that the body does have the means to bring about a response that is suggested. So yes it could happen.

If the subject knows it's a placebo, it will not work. But yes, it is possible.

He won't trip balls, but he might have a trip comparable to a really low dose of DMT.

It's not so much a DMT placebo effect as just the placebo effect. If he thinks it's all legit, he'll feel like he's different, then exaggerate it, then just run with it and have fun/act like a dumbass :)
