Smart phone HTC android sd card?

The phone is a little over 2 years old and time for a new one. I'm a 61 year old guy computer smart but not so much with my phone as I'm always at my pc and don't use the fancy phone stuff much. I want to get my photos out b4 I trade it in. I found a mini sd card by the sim card (ATT is the service provider) are the photos on that card? The reason iI ask is that the card is very hard to get out and I don't want to risk breaking it if the pics aren't even on it. Thanks for any help.

You can just plug your phone straight into your computer via a USB cable. You don't have to use a memory card. Once your phone is plugged in go to my computer and your phone icon should be there. It's just like plugging in a flash drive.
