Yes he did. He had been diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome (the high performing type of Autism) he also had no criminal record.

He was diagnosed with having a mental issue but the link provided by the first answerer doesn't indicate in any way that he was under some professional guidance. His mother did take him to a psychiatrist but there's no indication that he was under some regular guidance. See link. I wish he had been because that may have prevented many innocent people from dying.
