Who discovered the idea that Earth was meant to be a certain temperature? Where did they uncover this fact, and when in history did it get revealed?

    No one, since the Earth was not "meant" to be a certain temperature.

    I would love to know where that idea came from, since its not science.

    What do you mean? The Earth isn't obliged to be at a particular temperature, throughout it's lifetime, the Earth has gone through many different temperatures.

    Maybe you mean who discovered the fact that the earth is in the so-called "goldilocks" zone-----not too hot and not too cold for water to exist as solid, liquid and a gas simultaneously. I don' t know who invented the term "Goldilocks zone." Google it. It is a recent thing though.
