Bigotry and Duck Dynasty's Phil...?

Why is the standard “go-to” political strategy these days for beating the opponents of our personal views into submissive silence, then dismissing them? By doing so, we are dismissing wonderful opportunities for discussions that need to be had. This is why I say it is far better to engage in open, honest communication. Yet, it is important to start off with mutually beneficial goals for all parties involved. I say establish common ground in the direction with which we all choose to share and live in our shared communities. Next, it needs to be understood that just because people have different points of view that does not make them "bad people," simply people with different point of view. Allowing all parties to be accountable allows our focuses to conversations that elevate above hate, bigotry and preconceived notions. Let us lead the way to a world of empathy and compassion for all. This is why I agree with Brandon Ambrosino when he said, “I wonder if the Duck Dynasty fiasco says more about our (GL&T) bigotry than (Duck Dynasty’s) Phil’s?”

They don't want discussion. They want it known that if you say anything disagreeable to them that you will be pounced on however possible. This keeps people from saying anything the P.C. liberals might find "offensive"

You are free to speak your opinions and you are also free to face the consequences. Stereotyping and making broad statements about others has its downside when mass communication is added to the mix. A public conversation is not the same as one conducted in private.

You have the key words OPEN HONEST COMMUNICATION a rant is not communication it is just a rant.

"Despite all the rhetoric you’ll hear, this is not a free speech issue. Robertson is entitled to say whatever he wants, as he did in the GQ interview, and A&E is entitled to pull him off the air if it deems the comments offensive. There is no First Amendment right to appear on a television show."

Making comments on ALL duck hunters being this or that is also wrong.

This would be an ideal time to have a discussion until one side wins. By throwing it into a drawer and locking it up, they are not eradicating the problem, only giving it a chance to resurface later on with an angrier more vengeful approach. Instead of the LGBT community and the black community to get up in arms, they would get more done if they had an intelligent conversation with the man and they could both offer their viewpoints and experiences and let him decide if he is after all right. If he is indeed intelligent, he would come to the conclusion that he is mistaken in his notions.

As a lesbian people will assume that I should be outraged, but that would be pigeonholing Me. I am Me, and Phil is him, he is entitled to his opinion and he is entitled to speak his opinion. Right or wrong that is one of the prices of freedom. Trying to silence him just because i do not agree with him would be violating his rights.

You do get that Real-Life shows are considered braindead programming right?

This has nothing to do with politics, this is a programming problem, you can't have a wide-discussion about Homosexuality, and Religious Ignorance during a Real-Life show, that would kill the ratings.

Source(s): In the World of Commercial TV, it's all about ratings, nothing else, it's very naive to believe politics has anything to do with it.

This proves everyone has a right to think what he/she want to think. Just don't say what you think, unless you are willing to pay the price. The news media is relentless and will eat you alive.
