Infected Belly Piercing?
I got my belly button pierced about one and a half weeks ago. I've noticed the top hole has been red and putting out a milky discharge. The piercing isn't sore, nor does it give off heat or dark pus. So I think its in the beginning stages of an infection. I have saline solution(Healthy Accents solution) and soap (Dial Gold) that I use to clean the wound, but I want to know what else I can do to prevent a full on infection. I know not to use hydrogen peroxide or alcohol. Can I use dabs of neosporin/ bacitracin? I know they shouldn't be used on a regular basis or on a healing piercing, but some websites say they can be used when an infection has occurred. Is this safe? Or is it better to continue with only washing and soaking the piercing 2x daily? Any other tips and tricks? Thanks in advance!
Oh and I forgot to add- Even though it's a new piercing, the piercing didn't look like this after a few days of getting it done. It developed in the last few days which is why I'm concerned.
Also is using heat effective? How would I do that?

Soap can cause build up and block out oxygen and actual sea salt soaks are a lot more soothing than saline which can have additives in it that aren't good for your piercing. I'd switch to sea salt soaks twice a day for 5-10 minutes each soak with 1/4th of a teaspoon of non-iodized sea salt to 8oz of hot water. Pour some into a clean shot glass, bend over at the waist, hold the glass tightly to your stomach and then lean back and it will form a suction to soak it properly.
That's all you should put on your piercing. No ointments, no soaps, nothing else. If your piercing was infected you'd have darker yellow/green pus that usually has an odor to it. Redness and lymph (the discharge) are both 100% normal.
I'd go have a reputable piercer check out how that jewelry fits and see if you need better jewelry. Is that implant grade titanium? You wanna make sure that's what you're wearing.
And ignore most of what everyone else said to do. You should never wear plastic in a healing piercing, vaseline should never touch a healing piercing, there is no need to see a doctor, changing the ring is just going to be harmful not helpful, Bactine's own website says they cannot recommend it for piercings, and q-tips can leave tiny cotton fibers on your piercing that can irritate it.

Looks like it's just part of the healing process to me. From what I can see it does not look infected. That white milky discharge is leukocytes fighting off bacteria from the site as well as fibers repairing the skin etc. I suggest using sea salt mixed with warm water in a shot glass and letting it soak on your bellybutton for about 15 minz a day. You can also use bactine and a q-tip to cleanse the hole and the metal bar.

Mine did the same thing i was having a reaction to the jewelry so had change mine to plastic and can't wear metal ones maybe you have same problem try a plastic on out also if put Vaseline around the he helps keep bacteria away from it and stops any sort of bleeding
