D&D 4e DM Question: How do I generate stock in a magic item shop?

I know there's a way that involves rolling a dice that determines which table to look at, then another roll to determine the exact item, or something if the sort. No Idea what

Rolling dice is fun, but you can also use your prerogative as DM to pick the items in the shop. For example, if you know ahead that your dungeon has some nasty giant rats in it, you may slip in a magic mace called Squeaksmasher which is +1 (+3 vs. rodents). "If you're going down there," says the proprietor. "You'll be wanting this with you. Can't let it go cheap, mind you."

To be honest, I don't know that edition of D+D, but I've roleplayed around fifteen years of my life, my advice is to not let the rules get in the way.
