My factory speakers are 6 1/4 and the cutout doesn't fit my 6 1/2s?
What could I do here? Do they sell speakers that size? I measured the factory speaker and it's exactly 6 1/4 and fits perfect while my after market 6 1/2s don't fit at all
The cutout is specifically molded to fit the factory speakers and is set into the plastic of the door. It's difficult to explain but it's kinda like that old game you played as a child with different shapes that go in different holes. The cutout is set IN the door and only a 6 1/4 will fit...

Take whatever speaker your installing if you didn't buy them new and make a temp-let for the size hole you will need from it out of cardboard,if you did buy them new there should be one right on the box or inside the box. Then it's time to break your back cutting out the proper hole, you can use a cutting wheel with a dye grinder and compressor or a jig saw with a metal blade and look out for your rear windshield,If it were me i would get the proper size aftermarket speaker for the job. Crutchfield.com can help you with this, you can have an online chat with a rep if needed.

All new speakers come with what we've called "A temp plate". Use that to enlarge or cut out the new holes for the new speakers. Let some body help you before you end up with new front doors... :)
