Why is Santa also called " Father Christmas" ?

Would that make him the Father of Christ's Mass?

Update:

@ Precisho ---I so agree with you. Trying to get people to really think about the pagan aspects of this holiday can be a challenge, but I try.

My Sister way woun't he (satan) be the father of christmas, when he is the father of all false and paganic teaching? It goes this way 'he is the father of the lie' (john 8:44), he is the father of paganic teaching, therefor he is the father of christmas.

I guess you could say that, if you wanted to be very literal about it.

Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle and simply "Santa", is a mythical figure with legendary, historical and folkloric origins. The character has nothing to do with Christian faith or teachings.

Human ingenuity cannot outfox the Creator.

    Santa rearranged = SATAN!

Everything leading to the worship, deification and celebration of Jesus are all inspired by Santa - that is why Santa's title is Father of Christmas!

It is the traditional british name for him. I have no idea when but when they didnt have santa they personified christmas as a venerable, kindly old gentleman who is jolly. They referred to this personification as father christmas. Then **** happened and people started stories a fat drunk who visted children.
