Are we killing each other in the name of the same God?

Isn't the One God from all the Jewish, Christian and Muslim religions the same exact God? The God is the same God from the Old Testament. Isn't it ironic how each group has killed each other for their God. It's like three brothers killing each other over how they interpret the same father they shared teachings. No matter which religion is right or if they are all different paths to him he will be mad at everyone for killing each other as they are all his children no matter how good or bad they may be.

    Dear Friend,

Yes. The word in Hebrew came from "El" and in Arabic from "Elh". The word for "god" (note the small 'g' in English) is "Elah". Compare this to "Eloi" and "Eli" in the New Testament.

The word "Allah" is the perfect word to describe the God of Jews and Christians as it does not permit gender nor plural. Therefore, when the word is used as in "Eloihim" or "Allahumma" (these would appear at first to be plural and/or female genders) it becomes clear it is the royal usage such as a king would use in referring to his royal station while make a decree of some type. The king would state, "We decree the following..." and he is actually talking about his royal position rather than plural status.

There is no word in English for the "God" of Israel, the "God" of Jesus. This explains why the spelling remains the same whether speaking of a false "god" or pagan idol and the "God" of Abraham or Moses or Jesus (peace be upon them). Note the use of the capital "g" (G). This is the only way English can present a difference between the two. In the Semitic languages it is easy to distinguish the difference between a "god" and "The God" due to the structure of the word itself.

Evidence for this is quite simple. Visit any motel or hotel and remove the Bible located in the drawer next to the bed (placed they courtesy of the Gideon Society). Note inside the first few pages a reference to the translations of the Bible they have made into 27 languages. The second example they give is to the Arabic language of the passage in the New Testament from the Gospel of John 3:16. The verse begins in English; "For God so loved the world.." and in the Arabic translation the word used for "God" is "Allah."

The Arabic Bible beginning with the Book of Genesis uses the word "Allah" to represent "The God" of Creation; Adam and Eve; Noah; Abraham; Ishmael and Isaac and Israel. Page one of Genesis has the word "Allah" 17 times.

There is only one God yet when you see two different countries praying for victory it makes you wonder which one God is going to favor. Then, you ask yourself - what if they are of the same religion yet they are living in different countries fighting against their own spiritual brother or sister. That's why we don't believe in fighting in war - we have a "world-wide" brotherhood and we would never ever kill each other.

I would not confine God to just the Jewish, Christian and Muslim God. Every society everywhere no matter how primitive or advanced, isolated or interactive has in their own way sought God. There is on one, so no matter what they call Him they are all speaking about their own understanding of who God is. Levels of understanding can certainly vary. But the fact remains is that when people have discovered a faith with a greater degree of truth than their old faith, the old faith was abandoned for the one with greater truth. Where people wrong for worshipping God with names like Odin, Ra, Apollo, Zeus, etc? No. That served them for that time. But greater truth has been discovered so that few if any seriously worship God under those names today.

The difference being if this god actually did exist, he would have put a stop to all this fighting by making things more clear.

I seriously doubt a real father would stand by and do nothing while his children fight and kill each other over interpretations of whatever he said.

It's kind of funny, we are not even killing each other because the rivals are worshipping "false gods" anymore.

Instead we are killing each other because the remaining followers disagree on what the same god taught us.

Just goes to show that we simply like killing each other, has nothing to do with religion.

    The three Abrahamic religions.

Actual wars over religion in itself make up for 7 per cent of all conflicts recorded in history. It’s usually about power, money, land, politically ideology.

God knows we are losers, that’s why he had to send His son to fix things and the Holy Spirit to babysit us.

On the other hand is there anything on earth more important than God. The Taliban are so screwed up - why fight over a deadbeat country like Afghanistan (GDP per capita $10). They should be real men and stop beheading women and face the US in Washington, in their beat up trucks, with their goats - I mean they couldn’t even afford a McDonalds hamburger.

Lol. We are on a sinking ship worried about how the furniture should be arranged. Drop your swords and be nice for a while. May peace and joy find you this Christmas. I hope everybody has a good time with their loved ones his Christmas.

No. The christian god has a "son." The jewish god and the muslim god don't.

Allah wants you to give your son to him, and have your son strap on bombs and kill innocent people,to glorify him. Allah is not the same god, but a fiend, or demon. Flush him!

The Christian God gave his son to save us, and he wants our sons to "do good to those who would do us harm."
