Are we always going to need political "change" or can everything be "good enough" one day?

Our current president was elected on a platform of "change". Pretty much all the leaders are elected upon some sort of promise of change, I think. Will people ever just be happy with the way things are? Is unending change necessary? Or do people just get bored?

A population of over 300 million with divergent and irreconcilable worldviews, can only live under a "one size fits all" government by increasing measures of coercive force.

That is just reality. So unless some magic pill or food additive is found to root out that individual will, there will always be some that are disastisfied.

Nobody is happy with the way things are now.

Nobody was happy with Carter, so we got Reagan.

8 years later, things were pretty good.

Then when Bush, Sr. was the president, there was a mild recession, and Democrats went nuts.

They acted like the world was coming to an end. So even though the recession ended before the election, people demanded change and we got Clinton.

8 years later we were in the grips of rampant financial fraud, the sleaziest government in history, and a string of terrorist attacks. The dotcom bubble was bursting. We got another change.

8 years later, the Democrats in Congress crashed the financial system and blamed it on Bush, Jr., after comparing him to Hitler for 8 years. People were convinced we needed another change.

5 years later, things have only gotten worse for most people.

Yes, if people had not overreacted to the mild recession in the early 1990's, things would be very different today.

Instead, we have careened from one side of the highway to the other, swinging farther and farther with every swing of the pendulum.

We are now on the brink of multiple catastrophes, because of politicians milking the desire for change to benefit themselves.

As long as time keeps moving forward the needs of people will continue to evolve. So no, there will never be a time when change isn't necessary until the end of time itself. That may be a bit too philosophical for people on this site... And I was right, too above you idiots' head.

You harken for the days when a government didn't have to be watched all the time because they pretty much left you ALONE.

Those that call themselves "progressives" aren't satisfied with you doing what you want, they crave power and control and want to CHANGE your life for "the better."

They must be pushed back and destroyed.

I think there has to be some sort of change to avoid political tyranny, but we should only work to fix the flaws. We shouldn't try to develop an entire healthcare system based on nothing but failure. Our key priorities should be fixing debt, and getting the poor/unemployed to work. Simply giving them handouts won't positively effect our economy.

We were promised change and got party-hacks lying out of their buttocks. A darker form of the Clintons.

Mitt Romney would have saved America.
