how to install steam os on virtualbox?

Hey I'm trying to install Steam OS on a virtualbox virtual machine. I'd eventually also like to install Chromium OS on that same virtual machine (following the instructions here. http://www.chromium.org/chromium-os/developer-guid...

anyways, looking at the instructions found on http://store.steampowered.com/steamos/buildyourown to start the build, i see that i'll need to boot from a USB. can I make it so that the files created by the system restore are saved onto a folder (not USB) and "boot" my virtual machine from that folder?

I think ill call me custom build (if it works) schream os. it's silly but i like that name. also dont judge me on the usability of the build, im just playing around while im on winter break, i dont need to hear about how its a stupid idea. if required i guess i'll eventually use a hard drive partition to run it completely on my machine, i'd just like to try it out on a VM first.

Update:

ooo, partition the virtual image, great idea. never thought of it. ill just leave this open for longer to get more ideas.

I think first of all you will need to separate a partition in your VB. But since I have never used such an operation so I can't guarantee the possibility. But only I know a software that can handle partition works for lots of operation system so I guess it might be useful for you condition. check the software at http://www.partition-tool.com/resource/windows-8-p... Now I think it is free to download it since they are offering some Xmas disccount.
