I know that heat can be absorbed better with darker colors but can they also radiate heat better than brighter colors? in other words, is a black heater more effective than a white one? (both of the same material)

Hello, I drive a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 2.7L V6 4WD.

The issue I have is a bit odd. it started a couple weeks ago. I noticed that the idle was really low at 500 rpm (normally around 750), when in Park or neutral, the RPMs would keep going up even when my foot was off the gas.

the issue went away on it's own the next day. fast forward a couple weeks or relatively uneventful driving (really low idle comes and goes), and now the car has issues keeping its RPMs stable. they drop off suddenly then pick back up just as quick. a quick look over by a mechanic showed nothing as they didn't find anything though they suggest it may be throttle body or electrical issues.

I understand that airliners use turbines as auxiliary power units and to start the engines. My question is how is an APU turbine started? I'm not sure if it would be an electric motor on a battery or an external starter. can anyone clarify please?

I lost my top contributor status when yahoo removed public voting and my best answer rating dropped from 50 to 45. i have kept up my answering and even reached level 7 yet I still do not have my top contributor rating again. is there something keeping me back? I just saw someone with 17% best answer rating with top contributor and was wondering why I had not gotten mine back yet.

is there any way for yahoo to remove the spam posts from the cars and transportation section. it seems to be all from 1 individual called baba about astrology services. they use the same phone number in all their posts from their multiple accounts. it's getting highly annoying and I want it to stop.

So I have a 2013 Chrysler 200 and it's near 8800 kms (5400 miles) and I'm not getting the fuel economy levels that I am supposed to be getting.

I used to have a 2000 Mercedes-Benz C230 Kompressor and got exactly what fueleconomy.gov said I would.

I normally saw around 10l/100kms consumption. this number would go up if I predominantly drove on the highway and go down a bit if I only drove around in town.

now in the 200 I'm not even getting that good on highway alone with smoother, less aggressive driving.

despite the fact that fueleconomy.gov says I should be getting better.

I've also noticed that with the Mercedes when I drove it hard the fuel economy wouldn't go down nearly as much as it does when I drive the 200 hard. I realize that this varies a lot by car but I should really be getting better fuel economy.

any ideas of what could be going wrong?

I noticed a long time ago but only really gotten curious about a certain noise that my computer makes.

every change on the monitor will make this noise. it comes from the case not speakers. its a very quiet and low pitched rumble. I notice it a lot when I scroll using the arrow keys on long documents or websites. I know it's not EM interference from my phone or wireless mouse and it happens every single time there is a change in the display.

So I was checking out the top scorers on Yahoo answers ad was absolutely astounded at some of the people's performance. especially till i got to Big Daddy Cool who has been a member since 2006 with over 58,000 answers and still no top contributor ranking. what's ever stranger is the fact that he has a 106% best answer rating.

How is this possible?

anyways, looking at the instructions found on http://store.steampowered.com/steamos/buildyourown to start the build, i see that i'll need to boot from a USB. can I make it so that the files created by the system restore are saved onto a folder (not USB) and "boot" my virtual machine from that folder?

I think ill call me custom build (if it works) schream os. it's silly but i like that name. also dont judge me on the usability of the build, im just playing around while im on winter break, i dont need to hear about how its a stupid idea. if required i guess i'll eventually use a hard drive partition to run it completely on my machine, i'd just like to try it out on a VM first.

I live in Canada and I noticed that first, manual cars are getting harder and harder to find. even in sports cars. (though this is expected)

but secondly, there aren't really any new manual transmission SUVs anymore.

I want to know if any manufacturer is still making manual transmission SUVs or pickup trucks.

My older 2002/2003 chavy blazer is automatic but the manual has a section on how to drive the manual version.

I think a manual transmission would do much better in an SUV especially when towing with lower loss of power through a fluid coupling.

even more rare, are there any SUVs with automated clutch gearboxes?

I have a 2003 Chevy Blazer 4.3 Vortec V6. 5 speed auto with low range and 4WD.

Under normal operation, (gearbox set to drive, RWD and not accelerating hard) i hear a noise that sounds like something rubbing up on something else moving at the speed of the wheels. I have already lifted the car and moved each wheel individually to make sure that the brakes feel good and that the disks are flat, everything looks good and I can't manually reproduce the noise even with the rear wheel lifted and placed into drive. The second problem is that whenever i engage 4WD, be it using low range or not, the car no longer makes the periodic rubbing sound but whenever I steer there is a violent jolting and noise. I've never even gotten to steer at more than 5 kph or more than 90 degrees of turning with 4WD because of how violent the clunking is.

if there is a problem with the transfer case, what could it be and around how much am I looking at to fix/replace it?

I bought a ticket to do 10 laps around a track (Cayuga motor speedway 3km version) and I got a bunch of cars to choose from. I can only drive automatic sine I am not fully comfortable with my skills on manual.

I am not allowed to use launch control on any of the cars.

I want to know which you would recommend and why. Please don't say stupid things like the r8 because it looks cool. I want legitimate reasons as to why one car would be better than another. This will be my first time pushing a car to its limits on a track so lap times are not important I just want the best experience.

I've seen a video of a car at some auction looking place and when being driven in, the person driving in slowed too hard and the whole carpet moved tripping people displaying the car. I think the car was a classic Ferrari though I may be mistaken. If someone knows about the video and can help me find it I'd greatly appreciate it.

I have a 2000 Mercedes C230 Kompressor and today the steering got really heavy. it was all of a sudden. there is no fluid leaking I left paper all beneath the car for over 30 minutes both with engine running, stopped and while trying to move the wheel and there were no drips.(I also saw nothing on the ground where it started) It feels more softer when the car is moving but at stops it gets very hard to move. what could be wrong and how much could it be to repair? I can add more details about what I find if required.

I noticed late at night that I have much better light perception when I'm not looking directly at the source. It's normally very dark in my room at night and I woke up to realize that the door frame was lit up by some external light (keep in mind no lights were on outside but there are windows with no curtains that lead out to the streets). When I looked directly the the door frame I could no longer see the very dim light. when i looked nearby again I could tell that in my peripheral vision I could still see the light. What is happening and why? should I go to an optometrist? do others experience thesame thing?

I know about cars and I like to look at them with a fairly unbiased view. While I distrust Kia for being able to sell cars with a ton of features and a lower price than its competition. They have also never made a sports car and that just puts me off to them. Hyundai on the other hand is making great strides with the genesis r-spec, coupe and equus. I think that these cars are great and they can offer a lot of features for a lower price than their competitiors. (Asking around at the Toronto International Auto Show sales reps told me that a 2.0L R-spec genesis coupe is the same price as a Scion FR-S despite the fact that the genesis has a better interior and more power. The equus is also amazing considering it's features and comfort are comparable to an Audi A8 for about $25,000 less. yet despite this awesomeness, people aren't buying it. I want to know why you would avoid buying a Hyundai despite their superior specs and prices.

I'm in a sociology of deviance class and I have a group project that involves going out in public and doing deviant behavior to illicit a response. we then have to record the public responses to the behavior and report on it. so far we have examples of standing at a public location and doing nothing, which apparently draws some of the best responses according to the teacher. another idea is to get one of the females in the group to pretend to be pregnant and go drinking at a bar. I'd like some ideas from you guys. If I end up doing one of your ideas for the project i'll personally select it for best answer myself.

Sometimes the brakes in my Mercedes C230 Kompressor feel extremely stiff. this happens when the temperature is very cold (-15C or less). they also don't seem to work as well when this happens. after about 1 to 2 minutes the brakes go back to normal.
