Why do people dislike Hyundai?
I know about cars and I like to look at them with a fairly unbiased view. While I distrust Kia for being able to sell cars with a ton of features and a lower price than its competition. They have also never made a sports car and that just puts me off to them. Hyundai on the other hand is making great strides with the genesis r-spec, coupe and equus. I think that these cars are great and they can offer a lot of features for a lower price than their competitiors. (Asking around at the Toronto International Auto Show sales reps told me that a 2.0L R-spec genesis coupe is the same price as a Scion FR-S despite the fact that the genesis has a better interior and more power. The equus is also amazing considering it's features and comfort are comparable to an Audi A8 for about $25,000 less. yet despite this awesomeness, people aren't buying it. I want to know why you would avoid buying a Hyundai despite their superior specs and prices.
The thing that scares me about Kia is that they can dominate in features and price and I don't know where they saved the money. in my opinion i'd like a car to be better for it's mechanics than interior features any day of the week. as for the lack of sports cars. I justify it by referencing the fact that all the best technology is designed for racing. I like sports cars and find it unnerving that a car manufacturer with so much history hasn't made a sports car. that does not mean it doesn't get my attention. I have driven kias before and both times have been sadly disapointed. (drove a 2006 kia rio 5 hatchback and it had worse fuel economy than my dad's 2000 mercedes c230 kompressor, a much heavier older car with a larger forced induction engine) this in my opinion is absolute garbage. the interior features were nice but the mechanical parts of the car left me disapointed. do not be so quick to judge me, if the choice came down to just price and interior featur
es i'd jump on buy a kia in a hertbeat. I just want to know why others would not do the same.

Sorry guy, but lots of people are doing the same. Hyundai/Kia motor group is now the 5th or 6th largest producer of cars in the world. In North America they have seen double digit sales growth every year for a decade now, even when the auto industry saw a 30% contraction during the depression Hyundai was up 15% year over year. Hyundai/Kia sells almost a million cars in the US each year now.
I can kind of agree with you about car companies that don't make sports cars...kinda why I don't care for Toyota/Honda. I would certainly buy a Hyundai before a Kia. I owned a 2006 Hyundai Azera Limited for 5 years and it was a great car.

Hyundai owns Kia. They are built on the same chassis. They are pretty much the same depending on the way you think about it. They are becoming a leader in car sales. I've driven a sonata, accent, elantra, veloster turbo. And I own a genesis coupe. I go through many different car makes. Hearing what you said about the equus, and gen coupe, genesis sedan r spec. Maybe they should make all of there veloster's awd rally set up cars to compete with subaru's wrx and mitsubishi lancer. That would really throw some tempers. Hyundai has a lot in there future. My view is people don't like them, because some actually do feel incredibly cheap/act cheap. I just don't think they set foot in the right hyundai to say "wow" They also don't like the fact that hyundai is making a name for themselves. And that hyundai is now competing with different companys with there higher end cars, and not just for fuel economy. Anyways, I don't think anyone will know why for sure.

So...unless a manufacturer makes a "sports car", they aren't worthy of your attention. What a narrow-minded approach. As far as Kia goes, your "opinion" only proves you don't "know about cars" like you think you do. I'm on my second; 16 months and over 30,000 miles, coast to coast, and nary an issue other than low tire pressure due to temperature change. Surely, since you're so "knowledgeable", you know about that. You should open your mind up a bit and stop dreaming of things you know nothing about.
