Can my car mess up if car battery is not hooked up when driving?
Well today I had to get a jumbstart from work. So I bought a battery and the old one had so much acid on top it weaken the battery connectors so they snapped when I took the old one out. I got the new one in there but to start car i have to have plires on one of the connectors, after ignition i take the plies off but the battery is not connected. Tomorrow Im getting it fixed but I dont want to miss work. So will this mess my car up or should I take the day off (The easiest day) and get my car fixed asap without rigging it like im going to have to to go to work?

The battery is part of the voltage regulation system. An alternator without proper voltage regulation is capable of putting out over 150 volts. Anything over 16 volts can fry vehicle computers.
So driving it could cost you a small fortune in damaged computers. Have it towed to a shop and take a cab to work. It'll be cheaper.

Your going to have to replace the alternator if you keep that up. That will cost more than a battery and a cable or terminal clamp. A battery terminal clamp will cost less than $5 and 2 minutes of time. I am not going to say it but your not using your head wisely. You'll more than likely toast your alternator and possibly some of your engine control module.
Best thing you should of done is walked back into the part store and bought a terminal clamp. It would of saved you money and time.

Yes, running your car without a battery can mess your car up. Running without a battery will most likely fry your engine management computer, ABS computer, and any other sensitive electronics your car may have. Is it worth taking the chance, or just go get another battery for around $100.

Yes.
The battery is the voltage control for the car's alternator. When it is not in circuit, the alternator has no reference to what it is supposed to output, so will end up at a considerably higher voltage than intended.
There goes all your electronics, even bulbs if you have lights turned on.
Don't do it!

You will ruin the alternator and probably fry the computer! Why do people always think they can run a vehicle better than a manufacturer that designed it?!! Go ahead and try it. Most people like learning the hard way!!

Make sure both terminal wires are fasten separately away from other wires.. dont stop the engine until at ya work.
