How easy is it to get around in Romania speaking either Spanish or French?

Romanian is a Romance language like Spanish or French but it is different from either of those languages

Not very easy. Although before WWII French was up to date among middle-class Romanians, nowadays it was replaced by English, especially by city young people - but don't expect too much of it, anyway. As for Spanish, there is about a million Romanians living in Spain and speaking the language, but only a few returned home. If you are lucky, you can meet one, but again, don't expect too much of it. So, it won't be bad to learn a few Romanian words before coming in Romania.

You won't fare too well, unless you meet others who speak Spanish or French. Although Romanian is a Romance language, it is the most distant of them, and it is heavily infused with Slavic influences. You'll probably have an easier time speaking English than Spanish or French.
