Why is my air pump in aquarium sucking water and not giving air out?

My aquarium is 2 days old, it is a Biopro T-639.

The filter is working fine,

The air pump seems to be vibrating and all so I know it is working but when I attached the airline tubing to the pipe valve "T"-shaped, the tube is sucking in water and no air is being given out into the tank. The other opening of the pipe valve is pumping water out as I suppose it is to do.

I really need help urgently because some of my fish have already died died to bacterial bloom and I don't want to see more die because of insufficient oxygen.

Thanks!

You might need to get a check valve for your air pump. You can find these at pet stores or online for cheap. I think this will fix your problem.

Is the air pump above the water level? If not, it should be, because the gravity will cause the water to flow into the pump if at the wrong angle. If it isn't, then move it above the tank's water level and turn it off, then disconnect and reconnect the tubing and see if it works.
