Vaio not working with Pioneer receiver?

I have a Sony Vaio VPCEB15FM and a Pioneer VSX-523K. I am trying to connect my laptop to the receiver using HDMI, but it is not working. I also have a Denon 3311-CI in my living room that works flawlessly with the Vaio. But for some reason this Pioneer isn't working with the Vaio. My mom's Dell Inspiron laptop works fine with the Pioneer though.

Any thoughts???

    Connect the lap top directly to the TV...it could have to do wit the HDCP hand shake or that the audio in the Sony does not meet the standards for the HDMI protocol as currently interpolated by your receiver....also a firmwear update of the Graphics card and the sound card may do the trick.....
