1997 f150XL 4.2l manual transmission (m5od)?

why does my truck make a noise when im moving and push in the clutch or slow down, also once the truck is warmed up it makes the noise at idle. the noise is sporadic (not constant ticking). it sounds like a clanking noise. when i looked at it i couldn't see the exhaust pipe or anything vibrating and making contact with anything. i also checked the tightness of the starter.

i think it might be loose flywheel bolts. your opinion would be great.

All we can do on here is just speculate without actually looking at it,but it sure does sound to me like a throw-out bearing. You can also have the oil in the transmission checked to make sure it is full.Just be prepared for the worst as in a full clutch job.Hope this helps ya out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
