As you age, your vocal chords tend to stiffen up and be less flexible.

One thing that may help you is if you can get a vocal teacher or drama teacher at school to give you some pointers on how to project your voice with your diaphragm for volume instead of just screaming.

It is something all stage actors and vocal students are taught.

    That should help somewhat.

A "sounds silly " idea would be to do some vocal warmups in your car as you drive to school before school starts. These types of exercises are found all over the internet or the teachers at school can show you some basic ones.

"pretty much "Do re mi fa so La ti do" starting at a lower pitch and then each repetition you go up a half step until you get to the top of your register. This may eventually also give you back some of your range.

AS, just like any other muscle, you need to exercise your voice to make it stronger and more flexible....

Those things should help you a bit. Also you might try to get a noisy attention getter that will cut through the student's noise and chatter and get them to shut the heck up. and look at you. Then speak quietly in a somewhat "don't make me get mad now...you don't wanna see me mad....." Like Clint Eastwood used to do....

I feel sorry for teachers, nowadays. The kids are not being subjected to any type of parental discipline anymore. (it's just mean to make my kids act responsibly...I'm stifling their creativity...) It's becoming more like the Lord of the Flies every year.

    good luck

    edit.

    OK...who's the thumbs down troll?

Sorry, but since you are clearly not an English teacher, I wonder whether any of this story is true.
