How Do I Convince My Parents To Let Me Have A Dance Room?
I've been dancing for 9 years now and done competition for 2 years. I really want to practice ballet and pointe more often but all the extra classes I could take are during my other classes and I have no where to practice at home. In my basement there is 1 room we call the "Craft Room" that could be my dance room. There's hardly anything in there and no one uses it. We also have 1 room for storage (it's huge) but we already have a storage area in the attic so nothing's there. Money isn't the problem either because my dad is Mr. Handyman and could do everything for it himself and I could help. I don't see why they keep saying no!

Even with your father doing the installation you still need a sprung or floating floor preferably with marley on top. That is very expensive! You also don't have a teacher for corrections. Working on your own if something is even slightly wrong with your alignment or technique, you end up building bad habits. Practice does not always make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect. Otherwise, practice just makes things permanent. That is why dancers on track for a professional dance career never practice at home. They stretch at home but do multiple daily dance classes. They know they need proper flooring and just as important a teacher's eyes and hands on for correction. Even professional ballet dancers take daily classes with the company ballet master/mistress. You would be better off looking to another studio that offers more ballet classes. One that isn't competition if you want to learn proper ballet technique.
That being said, here is a link to STAGSTEP. They have all the information and sell what is required to put in a proper dance floor. They will install or give step by step directions for someone who wants to do it themselves. http://www.stagestep.com/index.php

Is it possible that your parents don't want you to become a professional dancer, if so, sit down with both of them and talk it over. Listen to what they have to say regarding your further education and future. Explain to your parents that school will always be your first priority and dancing is just a hobby that will not interfere with your classes.
