Isn't it bull when people say "be yourself?"?

Nobody likes "yourself" they only like when you conform. If you're not politically-correct & you don't obey what the TV says, you have problems in life.

    1) I don't watch TV, so I avoid that mass media / consumerism trap.

    2) I do whatever I wish. I am perfectly fine with 'being myself'. If others don't like it, who cares? It's *my* life ~ and I don't view life as a popularity contest. I allow others to do whatever they wish with their lives as well. This doesn't mean I invite drug addicts or thieves into my home, of course. As the Fleetwood Mac song lyric goes, 'You can go your own way ~ go your own way."

Everyone *is* 'being themselves', all throughout their lives. Some are 'programmed' by TV and mass media. As far as they are concerned, yes, the TV personas becomes their thought-pattern. It's all just life.

I really do disagree with 'nobody likes "yourself" they only like when you conform'. We hang around different types of people, I guess.

I have only a few 'problems in life', and those arose out of *my* own choices. These are not major problems either.

There are plenty of people who enjoy the company of non-conformists.
