I9300 & i9305 the only difference is lte. Both remain incredibly ugly and feel cheap.

    Time for suggestions.

    Moto x

    Moto g

    Xperia sp

    S4 mini

    Huawei p2

    Huawei p6

    Nexus 4

    HTC butterfly

can't guarantee they're all under 500$ but some are definitely.

    Hope it helps.

The main differences in the model numbers are due to region that the phone was meant for. It is due to difference in processors and LTE bands. I live in USA and this version uses Qualcomm processor that has north america LTE bands built in. Not sure where your location is. If you are looking into android I would suggest a nexus 5. The specs are better than even the galaxy s4 and a great price. If you are looking into windows phone I would suggest the lumia 925 at that price range. The hardware specs are comparable to s3 but wp8 runs more smoothly and 925 has a better camera than s3 and s4. The negative on this one is no expandable memory and you may not like wp8 but I think the built in maps and driving app could be a big positive depending on your region and data plan. Consider os ecosystems. If you already use many google services and like them stick to android. Whatever you choose make sure that the phone model number works in your region. All will probably work for voice calls, but you need to make sure that the data services will work on your carrier.

I think the main difference is the LTE(4G) and the Processor (Exynos and Snapdragon)

S3 is old Phone and may not get updates beyond 4.3.

I think you should go for Xperia ZL or Nexus 5
