Is anyone else happy to see North Illinois and Fresno State lose bowl games?
All season long, Fresno State was touted as a BCS bowl team and late in the season NIU was picked to be in a BCS bowl by many "experts." They both played in minor bowls and lost to so-so teams, and I'm glad. No offense to mid-major schools and their fans, but these two teams both played inferior schedules that a mid-to-high level major conference team (think Minnesota, USC, or any number of SEC teams) would have breezed through. They played in bowls where they deserved to be, and still lost. The whole bowl set-up stinks and the coming changes won't make a big difference when it comes to the BCS bowls. How about next season, if everyone remembers NIU and Fresno State and ranks mid-major teams where they belong? Comments please.

You are definitely right. NIU almost was a BCS bowl buster. I watched NIU play Utah state and that game was terrible . Minnesota just got beat by Syracuse (6-6) ACC team and that game was far better quality wise. I hoped Minnesota will have done better but nevertheless was a exciting quality bowl game to watch. I rather see power conferences go against each other in bowl games . They got better players , team coaches fan base and a lot of history behind them.

Could care less. Some of the mid-major schools can compete, those 2 really couldn't. Lots of offense, but nothing whatsoever on defense. The best mid-major teams might be Rice, Marshall, or Utah State (if Chuckie Keaton hadn't got hurt) as they all can play a little defense. But the bowls do stink. Some of these teams can beat on a regular basis the 6-6 schools from power conferences that are getting bowl bids ahead of them.

I'd tend to put more weight on your opinion if you actually knew the proper name of NIU.
Little hint - it is NOT "North Illinois". Just like USC is not the University of South California.
As for whether or not they belong in a bowl game - why not? And if they should happen to win their conference, I'd much rather see them have the opportunity than a team that doesn't win theirs participate in a BCS bowl.

Not happy really. I will be happy if U of M loses the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, though.

I like it more when a team that's played against teams like Bethune-Cookman, Idaho, and Nevada loses to a team from the SEC, PAC, B1G, or Big 12.

I watched both games! To see Carr and Lynch. Both disappointed me! Lynch is not a 1st round prospect! Not sure about Carr!
