Direct Tv or Comcast Xfinity?

So we have triple play(wifi, phone, cable) Xfinity in our house but have always used SD for our 4 tv's. For Christmas we got two new HD tv's so Comcast is making us go from their Standard service to HD service which is extra money then $10 for each new HD box that has to go with the Tv. Our bill would go from $154 to $210 a month by the end of everything!!! So we called Direct TV today and they offered us a Triple Package (wifi, phone, cable) for every TV including the HD tvs we have for only $85 a month!!!!!!!! I couldnt believe it. It seems Direct Tv is the obvious answer but I wanted to see what you guys thought.

Given only those two choices, I would take the DirecTv offer. I dumped Comcast 3 years ago due to their incessant price increases and poor customer service. If Comcast was the only option for cable or satellite TV in my area, I'd just use an antenna.

Before signing up with DirecTv, see what other providers are available at your address. Check out FIOS if you're in a Verizon service area, or U-verse in an AT&T area. Other local phone companies often have similar IP services (TV, Internet, & digital landline phone). They all have new customer promotions, like DirecTv, and you may find something you like even better.

Whatever you choose, it will be better than Comcast (IMHO).

I'm a rep for AT&T. You know, the person who answers when you call 611. I also have had Dish and Direct over the years. I'm now online reading all of the fine print for Direct since were switching back to Direct due to the Turner Channel eliminations. From what I know from my job I can offer this. The beancounters that all companies seem to depend on are hard at work. Know that all they want is new customers. Promos aren't for exiating customers. Know that you should READ the agreement. It will clearly say that existing customers are not eligible for intro prices. Know that you should read your bills. This applies especially for those of you that select autopay. Most people might be shocked to know how many people call me about their bills and the charge for a service they choose months earlier. They all say that it just comes out of their bank account and they never noticed it until someone actually looks at the bill occasionally. Do companies know this? Of course they do. They depend on it. My suggestion is to avoid autopay. Besides, all it does is take jobs.
