What psychological concepts are there in the movie Flight?

Summary for those who don't know it:

The movie Flight starts Denzel Washington and is about a pilot who is an alcoholic that survives a severe plane crash. He flies the plane while intoxicated and high on cocaine, but is so used to the drugs it does not affect his flying ability. Rather, he flies the plane so heroically that it seems no other pilot could have landed it the way he did. 6 people die however, and he faces legal actions to determine the cause.

I picked the movie Flight to do an essay on because at first thought, it seems like a movie with a lot of psychological themes going on. And there are... Things like alcoholism and addiction are in there.

I get the main gist of it, but can anyone think of some specific terms or concepts that are relevant to this movie?

Much appreciated!
