How to pronounce Laska?
I'm trying to name my dog, and am thinking about naming it after the Levin's dog in Anna Karenina. I'm unsure about the vowels.

Oddly enough, but this word good sounded in Google and there isn't singing, stretching vowels unlike the song: http://translate.google.ru/?sugexp=chrome,mod%3D15...

By the way, every noun and ajective have gender in russian language. It will be stange, if male dog will have female name ;-) Ласка is female gender.

All "a" like in "are".
Stress on first "a".
Look for example here at 2:34 ("Lechat lubov da laska", she is singing, so first "a" sounds much longer than in speech):
