Why does my computrainer not work?

I assembled all the things. Plugged in the cords. Well not the heart rate monitor because I don't have it.
Connected to computer and program seems to recognize the unit, I can change the display with the handlebar-mounted button, and I can even make the little character pedal.
But he doesn't move along the course.
And no data is produced other than speed and power.
So at least I can use it as a normal trainer.
But I really want the visuals associated with the computer program, and have it ACTUALLY produce on screen data.
W yes I clicked on the icon and went to "quick race."
I could possibly press "start" on the handlebar but I will try that next time)
I figured that I would just start to pedal.
i may have actually done that but I forgot if anything happened.
So you may be correct about starting it.

Did you start the program? Until the program is started nothing moves on the screen
