You will file for Adjustment of Status with the USCIS.
The following forms are needed:
I-130
I-485
I-864
2 x G325a (one for each of you)
I-693
I-765
I-131
The last 2 ones are optional, but since they are free when filed concurrently, you'll want to submit them as well.
Also needed is a check for $1,490, the total damage.
At about the 10-to-12 week mark, you will receive a plastic card that's your work permit and Advance Parole, your travel permit. At about the 3-to-5 months mark, you two will have the interview. Thereafter you'll become a resident.
The Immigration Officer will not ask anything you'd need to prepare for. Just personal information and how you met. If you have a photo album of your wedding and reception bring it. If you don't have one right now, make one.
You don't need an attorney for this, but since you need to prove that you entered the United States with inspection, you'll need your passport with the visa and the entry stamp and the I-94 in it.

Like Frank said you need an immigration lawyer asap. Legally you can NOT adjust status to residency while on a tourist visa. What you have done and are trying to do is considered fraud and can lead to being deported and banned for 3 years. Only a good immigration lawyer may help you out of this which also means to check out the background on the lawyer first. If the lawyer mainly works with illegal aliens or in high latino areas keep looking as odds are above 50% that just a scam lawyer who is happy to take your money but can't really help, like Cali is a bad place to be.

You do NOT file the US citizen does.........you want to hope that you do not get deported due to coming in as a tourist and now deciding to change the game to suit you.
You can always leave but you will NOT get back in until such time as all visas etc are sorted, plus you can NOT work until such time as you have a GC in HAND with your SSN in HAND..............
Hope he earns enough else you will not be staying in the USA..............

if you did not arrive on a Fiancee or spousal visa ..go see an Aila lawyer ASAP
if you on a visa waiver .you cannot normally adjust status from that ...if you leave you may not get back in ..as you failed to follow the system
if you have not exceeded your legal stay go home now and the US citizen files for a spousal visa
