How to work Aux input on 2006 Cadillac CTS?

Just got a Cadillac today and can't figure out how to connect my iPod. There's a wire running through the ash tray in the front console and it looks like a regular headphone jack. I tried plugging in the iPod and switching sources but it still won't play. Any help would be ******* wonderful.
