Why didn't my Coastal glasses work out?
I purchased some glasses online (for the first time) from Coastal using my current, up-to-date script. I did not have my PD, but had someone measure it for me. When I received the glasses, the lenses were way off. They were off-center. I asked the people at Coastal if they thought it was the PD or another measurement that measures pupils (that they failed to request). They were very pleasant, but they didn't know. So I called Lens Crafters (where I was seen by the doctor, both in August 2013 and October 2013) to check on my PD. They told me it was 64, and I had listed it as 63. The people at Coastal said that the PD has about 3 mm for error (in other words, being off by 1, wouldn't throw it off).
So my guess is that my previous glasses were made using an additional measurement that Coastal doesn't ask for, but nobody has been able to confirm this. For reference, I don't think my script is strong enough that I'd be in the category of people who simply cannot purchase glasses online. It's 5.25 in one eye and 5.00 in the other. Any thoughts on why these glasses didn't work for me? I do realize they are cheaper quality, but there has to be more to it. They were simply off-center and my peripheral was off.
FYI, I do have an astigmatism in one eye, but I provided whatever info was in my script for that, and I assume it was accounted for or they attempted to account for it.
Yup, there were three sets of numbers and all were put in. I double checked the axis and the sphere when i called the double and triple check my script. There is a minus in my script (as it would have to be, unless they were reading glasses I believe). I just didn't list it when I posted the question here. I put in everything as it was listed on my script. It is possible that I need a second opinion about what my script is, but since I've seen the same doc twice in less than 6 mths, it seems doubtful. One person from Coastal said it was possible they cut the lenses wrong. I thought that sounded strange since she said all returned glasses get donated (in other words, they lose money on returns). But I guess that's possible.
That should say "when I called to double and triple check my script."

They are correct , 1 mm off has nothing to do with it. There ARE no other measurements aside from the actual prescription.
It could be the prescription was ordered wrong on your part . I mean you tell us 5.25 and 5.00 with no sign in front of it ( + or - ) so you aren't paying attention to detail to begin with.
If there is astigmatism in one eye then it isn't on the prescription if those are the only numbers. A lens for astigmatism would have 3 sets of numbers. The SPHERE , CYLINDER and AXIS....you only show a Sphere power.
So there are 3 possibilities, YOU ordered wrong, or THEY made them wrong, or the prescription from the Dr. is wrong to begin with.
This is where it gets difficult. Finding fault when they were made online is a problem .
Perhaps go back to the Dr. who examined you and tell them your troubles. They will check the glasses for accuracy and if they are correct, then they will re-examine your eyes to find out what the problem with the prescription given could be.
