How many sleeper cars on the Lakeshore Ltd to Boston MA?

In a few yrs I want to take the Amtrak from San Antonio to Boston. We'll take the Texas Eagle to Chicago & then change to the Lakeshore Ltd to Boston. We will have a sleeper on both trains, but I'm wondering how many sleeper cars are usually on the Boston to Albany branch since it splits off there in Albany

Update:

The first 2 answers I got SUCKED!!! Step your game up!!! Just an fyi, I'm planing for sometime in 2018 or 2019 for my wife

Three sleepers typically. 2 in the NYC section 1 in the Boston section.

That may shrink. Amtrak has very few sleepers anymore, they haven't added new equipment since the Viewliner and none are ordered. If they shrink the train, they may book you on a sleeper bound for NYC, and transfer you to coach at Albany. May be an up-class coach with better seats or freebies.

The #1 way Amtrak loses equipment is lawsuits. Any accident, e.g. some idiot drives into the side of an Amtrak train, and the car will get sidelined until the lawsuit is settled, to preserve evidence. Their yard in Indiana is full of these cars. In the rare case of serious damage, the equipment can't be rebuilt because of accounting/tax rules which say a major rebuild must use "capital" funds which are accounted for differently, and for Amtrak, Congress must authorize. It's stupid.

I'd be surprised if there were more than one sleeper on the Boston section, since there isn't even a dining car.

But why worry about it? A little poking at the Amtrak web site looking for tickets between Albany and Boston shows that the sleeper is rarely sold out. Even if it were when you wanted to go, the parts of the trip between Albany and Boston are during the day, and it wouldn't be the end of the world to switch from a sleeper to coach for that leg of the trip.

Gosh in a few years time the schedule can change. Service could be cut or increased.

NO ONE knows how many cars of what type will be on a particular train route 5 years from now.

Amtrak may or may not be in business at that time.

Great you can predict an available ticket on your day of travel 5 years ahead of time.

Train cars can be added or taken off at any time based on passenger demand. Schedule can also be changed which will affect when and where sleeper cars are needed.

Suggest you WAIT until 2018 for a more accurate and reliable answer.

Hint you only need one compartment. Does it really matter how many others there are? The railroad does not haul around empty cars for fun or just in case they have a late booking. If they are busy extra cars can be added. It does not have to be the same every day.

Amtrak does not publish the number of sleeping cars between Boston and Albany (or at least I cannot find where they do). However, I doubt they operate more than one. There are relatively few passengers between Boston and Chicago. Up to 2008 there was no direct service at all; only a shuttle connection between Boston and Albany but today there is direct service.

In a few years? Nobody knows how many cars it will be in few years. Nobody even knows if those trains will still be running in a few years.
