Does one have something to do with the other?
Hey guys. I've noticed two things with my car lately. One is that under hard acceleration, the car seems to hesitate some around 60+ mph, but under normal acceleration it doesn't do this. Second is that while I had the car in cruise on the highway, I was going up a reasonable hill, and the check engine light flickered on and off. My check engine light has been on ( haven't fixed it because I just put another engine in) and my mechanic says it's the rear O2 sensor. IS this what's causing these symptoms? My car is a 97 Ford Contour. The car itself hast 207K miles on it, but the engine I put in has 70K on it. The mechanic ( Meineke) said that they gave the engine a full tune up before they installed it. Thanks and have a Happy New Year!

If you have a check engine light it's telling you that engine management system or fuel management system isn't working correctly. When it's on it's running in default mode. It's not adjusting correctly, it's just picking settings so it will run. So you can get a repair. If you let it go and some other sensor or problem happens the car will stop. I think your problems are tied together.
