That's just South Florida. It has been a pretty warm winter for Florida, but there have been a few nights/days were it got chilly. I live slightly north of you near Orlando, that's why I say it's just South Florida. Central Florida deals with trapped humidity and high temps in the summer, we don't even have the nice beach breeze Miami gets some days. Thankfully in the winter central and northern Florida are an oasis compared to the rest of the country with temps in the 60's-70's generally. This winter more days have been 70-80 so I agree it's fairly warm, but I think the biggest thing is your in South FL. Don't think it's ever going to be a cold winter for your family.
I personally love that I can still keep my windows open b/c I enjoy fresh air over circulated a/c air and it's a nice break for my electricity bill :]

Guess it's a choice as the where you live. Sounds like Florida to me and I have never been to Florida. We life in the north woods and many people go to warmer climates in the winter. We brave it out and stay put. Wouldn't have it any other way. We've had nothing but 0 and -0 degrees this winter. People up here are pretty much getting "cabin fever" as they say up here in the winter months. However it doesn't stop the snowmobilers from coming up and having a good time. Living in Florida is like living in the tropics, but that doesn't mean the evenings are going to be cooler. Instead of putting on the heat, you might want to think about bring out the blankets and snuggle in front of the TV with a bowl of popcorn to save on the heat. Makes up for using the AC during the day. About all I can say - it's all depends on the climate where you live. Up here we usually seem to miss spring and go right into summer. The best time of year for me in Fall when it starts to cool off and the change of colors.

Lucky you! Here in my little corner of England it is blowing half a gale and I sit in front of a fire feeling poorly and freezing.
