My 2001 Subaru Legacy station wagons electrical system shut down.?

I was stopped at in intersection, when the light turned green, I started to go when the electrical system shut down. There was no slow fade or battery problems previously, everything electrical shut off and wouldn't come back on, absolutely no lights, ignition, anything. Any ideas what it could be?

Your alternator failed and the battery did not get a charge, took over the job of providing power to the ignition system and died. Take the car to a shop and have them check your charging system. It is best to get a new battery too.

Alternator, bad connection at the battery, serpentine belt might have came off, etc etc.
