Can I just jump into juicing?

Well, actually, blending. I want the fiber of all the fruits and veggies. :)

I want to do a detox I found online, then juice everyday for breakfast for the rest of... the year? Until I get tired of it?

I have no medical conditions, so is it okay to just jump in like that, or should I do it every other day or something?

No, you can't nor should you do a smoothie detox for a whole year. Choose a reasonable amount of days to do it: The most I've gone is 15 days and that was enough. Juicing is excellent anytime so starting your day with fresh juice is always a good idea. There are many ways to go about this if you want to incorporate this into your regular eating (which should be fresh veggies, fruits, seeds, nuts, grains). Many people find it healthy for them to take 1-2 days a week to just do juices or smoothies, other people do smoothies and juice until dinner. If you've never done any type of detox/fast then you need to know what to expect: the first 3 days are the hardest for most people (I've never had issues but everyone is different). If you go beyond 7 days you will likely have a return of symptoms. You will feel hungry and have cravings the first 3 days. Get a probiotic for when you end the fast. You may have a physical detox or an emotional detox or both. Make your own smoothies and juices. Address your diet and clean it up so that you don't feel you have to go a year on just smoothies and juice. I jumped into juice fasts 4 years ago but I did a lot of research and knew what to expect. I've done just juice for 10 days, I've done the Master Cleanse, I've even done a water fast (for spiritual reasons), I've done smoothies. Don't be pulled in by fads. Full fasts should only be done 3-4 times a year and they are usually seasonal.

Source(s): And because this isn't an actual fast then I see no problem. You're still getting fiber. You may get no detox symptoms at all.

It should be fine, especially if you are blending as you will need that fibre! The only thing I was say is to treat it with caution, I tried juicing to lose weight a few years ago, smoothie for breakfast, juice for a snack and salad for lunch with a proper dinner. Unfortunately as it turns out my blood sugars were a bit unstable and therefore so was my mood. It had devastating consequences but at the time I was completely unaware that it was related to the juicing, thinking that all the goodness in the juice should be making me feel better! & of course when its psychological conditions you tend to think that it is what is happening in your life rather than what you are eating.

So yeah, go for it, a smoothie makes an excellent breakfast, especially if it has avocado in, just make sure you are eating properly for the rest of the day, don't clean your teeth within an hour of drinking your smoothie and watch out for any feelings of tiredness, anxiety or depression and you will be fine.

Same with your detox, if you feel really tired and grouchy don't just assume that you are detoxing, it might well be your body telling you to eat!

Just jump in! Enjoy it, it really is amazing and gives you time to step back from your eating habits completely to really look in on it and reflect on your relationship with food. Congrats!
