My bed is always gritty at night!?
I have experimented with this to no end. Different sets of sheets, bathing just before going to bed, keeping others away from my bed, even covering up the bed with a thick comforter before using it! No matter what, every evening, whether the sheets are fresh, my bed is gritty! I looked at it with a magnifying glass and I'm seeing white and black specs. The white is thicker, like sand, and the black is like flecks- thin and smaller. I BOUGHT A NEW MATTRESS because this shiz was driving me insane, but the problem persists!! I now have to sleep on a thick blanket so I can't feel the grit. What the heck is going on??
3 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling4 years agoWhat is happening to me?
I'll learn about a new word, band, movie, etc. and then all of a sudden, I'll hear it again within a day!
Or I'll be talking about something and see a reference to it moments later.
It's really creeping me out.
For instance, today I learned the term "atl-atl" (the Neanderthal tool) for the very first time in my entire life, in anthropology class. Then I come home and watch an interview of Jon Heder as Napoleon Dynamite say he bought himself an atl-atl! What are the odds of that?? Napoleon Dynamte??
Or last night, I was talking to my boyfriend about Puck, from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and Shakespeare's picture came on the TV in Wild Wings on the sports channel AS I WAS TALKING ABOUT HIM!!
I know it's not supernatural or anything, but what the heck?
The only way I could explain it is that I've really heard the word/phrase/song all throughout my life, but never paid attention until I learned the definition/heard the entire song, etc. But then what about the Shakespeare thing?
This happens in bursts. It happened to me a lot about 5 years ago, now suddenly it's back happening almost every day for the past 2 weeks. o.o
2 AnswersOther - Society & Culture7 years agoWhat does that stock-footage Japanese yell mean?
In Japanese movies and anime, there's often a stock footage yell that sounds like "iiyooooooo!" before a fight or the revealing of something sterotypically Japanese (someone walks out in a kimono or a bushido uniform, etc).
I know "ii yo" basically means "it's good" but if that's what it means in this case, why do they shout that?
Please and thank you! :)
1 AnswerLanguages7 years agoCan I just jump into juicing?
Well, actually, blending. I want the fiber of all the fruits and veggies. :)
I want to do a detox I found online, then juice everyday for breakfast for the rest of... the year? Until I get tired of it?
I have no medical conditions, so is it okay to just jump in like that, or should I do it every other day or something?
6 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan7 years agoHow do I go about not inviting someone on vacation?
I'm going on vacation with a friend this summer. We have a mutual friend with whom we are pretty close, but she's, well, kind of a downer when it comes to trips. She's the kind of girl that will have a fight on the phone in the bathroom for an hour with her bf while we're waiting to go see the Space Needle. If we tell her to come on, or maybe, "We'll just catch up later," and go without her, she'd be so mad.
She is one of our closest friends and as much as we love hanging out with her, she's just not a good travel buddy (as seen through trips she's taken with others and her sudden moodiness on occasion).
We've considered inviting her, but I'm the one who thought up the trip and invited my first friend, so it's my decision. My first friend doesn't have a problem inviting my second friend, but sirens are going off in my head not to bring her along.
Should I invite her anyway? If not, how do I explain myself to the second friend? :\
2 AnswersEtiquette7 years agoCat suddenly scared of me?
I live in an apartment. A week ago, my cat was on the balcony and a car went speeding thru the complex and hit a curb. It scared my cat so bad that she peed on the balcony and ran around. I approached her, but she had her hair standing up and was making angry noises at me. This is understandable.
Today is different. She was sitting on the bathroom counter (not near the balcony) where she usually meows non-stop until I open the medicine cabinet for her to rub her face against (I dunno, she likes the way it feels on her cheeks because it's pointy lol). I reached up to open it, and she flinched really hard, as if she thought I were going to hit her. Then all her hair stood up and she started with the noises again. It's been 15 mins and she'll let me touch her, but not much until she starts growling at me and backing away-- hair still up.
Every time I stretch my hand to offer her to rub on it, she cringes and raises her hair.
I never hit her! I do yell at her when she scratches the carpet, but she wasn't doing that. I don't look different than usual. She's spayed, so she's not prego. I haven't touch another animal in a week, so I don't smell like another pet.
Ideas? :\
2 AnswersCats8 years agoBride insists on choosing what to do for Bachelorette Party?
I'm a bridesmaid and the Maid of Honor is one of my best friends. She's in charge of planning the BP, but the bride keeps telling her what she wants. We thought that the MoH chooses the theme, where we go, etc, but the bride keeps heavily suggesting we go to a local club. She attends this club once every 2 weeks and we want to throw her a unique party involving something we don't often do-- like a fancy dinner and city-wide scavenger hunt, or murder mystery dinner.
I understand the bride saying, "no strippers, no drinking," etc, but she wants to plan the whole party. We don't want her to be upset, but only 1 bridesmaid wants to go to the club, and the rest of us (and the other girls attending the party) absolutely do not.
Suggestions? :) Please and thank you.
5 AnswersWeddings8 years agoSister's spending habits are making me uncomfortable?
At 18, each of my siblings came into money due to the death of our father. The youngest, my sister, turned 18 on the 21st (5 DAYS AGO). She just went out and bought a 2014 Subaru Forester, literally $2000 of furniture at Ikea in one day, and signed a lease for her luxury apartment (all of which she boasted on Facebook).
She wants to show me her car and all the features, show me the furniture in her apartment, etc-- but I can't bring myself to be happy for her. I'm going to see the apartment tomorrow. I'm just... blahhhh, disappointed, I guess? I'm not her mom, but I can't believe the irresponsibility.
Should I pretend to be happy for her? (Though she knows I'm not.) Or just do a "that's cool" each time she shows me something? Or am I wrong? (Deep breath, Gabi, it happens sometimes.) Is it okay for her to have spent so much in 5 days?
1 AnswerFamily8 years agoCan you attack someone attempting animal abuse?
This is all a hypothetical daydream I had while bored today, lol
Let's say I'm walking along and there's a dog on the sidewalk in front of me, minding its own business, being perfectly behaved and just sitting there. A man is walking toward me and the dog. The man, carrying a cane, lifts it in an attempt to beat the dog away. Before he can, I grab his shirt and punch his stupid face.
Could I be sued? On what grounds? Or could I possibly be justified by a jury's decision? Would he face jail time for attempting animal abuse?
On an even more far-fetched note, what if it were a squirrel? Or even a BUG?
Thanks for your time. XD
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics8 years agoClean bachelorette party ideas?
I'm a bridesmaid. My friend is the Maid of Honor and is in charge of planning the bachelorette party, but asked me for some help in brain-storming.
We need ideas that work for these criteria:
-Wednesday
-Nighttime, dark out
-Includes dinner at some point
-CLEAN (no strippers [if you even consider strippers, you don't deserve to be married... End of rant, lol])
-No drinks (most party members are 20 and/or don't drink)
We're thinking of staying at a nice hotel. The bride is very adventurous, but unfortunately most things like zip-lining are closed after dark.
We live near Denver, so that's an option.
Please and thank you!! :)
5 AnswersWeddings8 years agoHow is living in Portland?
I understand there's a lot of suicide because of the weather? If I moved there, it would be mostly because of the overcast and rain. I love rain and would be unaffected by the weather.
But how are other aspects of Portland living? Are the people kind? My mother told me she drove through Oregon once and everyone was so rude to her (compared to our past livelihood in the South) that she'd never drive through there again. (We're now in Colorado, but I digress.) How do YOU feel the manners are in Portland or Oregon in general? :)
How's traffic? Raising a family? Retirement? Natural disasters? Snow? Conservative vs liberal? Etc :)
I literally know NOTHING about Portland other than the weather. I'm reading up on it right now actually, but please clue me in on as much as possible as far as your opinion of the city! :)
4 AnswersPortland8 years agoGood catch phrase for a game about movie spoilers?
My mom and I came up with a game in which players guess the movies that correlate to the spoilers the host provides.
Like Jeopardy, players choose a category. For instance, someone picks sci-fi for 100 points. "Who is THE ONE?" would be the question. Players write their answers secretly and the host checks them.
The game is called "Spoiler Alert." What's a good catch phrase for a game like this? :) Like Pictionary is "The Game of Quick Draw."
I'm making a PowerPoint version just to play with the family. ^^
Please and thank you!
4 AnswersBoard Games8 years agoWhat sci-fi movie is this?
My mom was watching this on television years ago. I know hardly anything about it, sorry. ^^'
It was a sci-fi movie about men hiding in the woods. They were either rogue soldiers or aliens disguising themselves as human soldiers. In one shot, a real human soldier runs past a tree. The viewer sees a alien/rogue soldier appear against the tree: he was camouflaged. They can blend in with their surroundings.
Not much to go off of at all, but there ya go. X) Thanks for your time. :)
3 AnswersMovies8 years agoSaying "yes, ma'am"?
I'm from Louisiana. I say "yes, ma'am", "no, sir", etc. I say them without thinking about it-- it's just what we do in the South. I now live in Colorado where people notice and often point out my saying those things.
"I'm not a ma'am!"
"Just call me Susan."
"You don't have to be so formal..."
"You're making me feel old."
I only say it to elders, usually people about 7+ years older than I (I'm 19), unless they're young professionals, like the girl at the bank counter, etc.
I WANT to say ma'am and sir. I want to be associated with having good etiquette. So when people ask me to stop, should I? Saying "yes" is awkward, and saying "yeah" is rude. What's a good common ground when I'm around people who get offended by my saying it?
15 AnswersEtiquette8 years agoHow long to wait for hepatitis C after cat scratch?
My mother has hepatitis C. My cat scratched her and drew blood. My mom warned me not to let my cat scratch me and draw blood, as I could become infected. I think my mom said to wait 4 weeks before I stop being careful. It's only been 2 weeks and my cat scratched me (climbed on me and fell while still holding on to my arm) and drew blood today. :( How at risk am I?
1 AnswerInfectious Diseases8 years agoHow to turn down this job?
I was at the pool at my apartment complex where everyone in the hot tub was talking (all strangers), and I was offered a job by the local Ideal Image manager. I'm very grateful for the offer, but upon reading reviews from previous workers, apparently it's not that great. It's also partially commission work (I don't care for sales at all, much less commission), and because it's laser hair removal, I'm not sure how I morally feel about permanent body mods (call me crazy, haha, I'm just not sure yet).
I saw him last night at the pool again and he asked if I had applied. I said "not yet." If I see him again, how can I tell him I'm not interested, but still very appreciative?

4 AnswersBaby Names8 years agoGetting an English Education degree to teach ESL?
I want to teach ESL in foreign countries someday. The university to which I was just accepted does not have an ESL degree, but offers English for Secondary Education or English for Elementary Education.
I guess I'll put myself down for Secondary. Would this be helpful for getting a job teaching ESL in the future?
1 AnswerTeaching8 years agoWoW automatically made me level 85?
I just started playing Cataclysmic from Molten. On the server Warsong, I created a Worg and was automatically made level 85. Figuring something was wrong, I made a Goblin as well, and the same thing happened.
A patch is being downloaded to another server, but Warsong should be good to go. Why am I going straight to level 85?
2 AnswersOther - Computers8 years agoDownloaded a torrent, now what?
Used to do torrents as a kid, but haven't in 7 years so I'm now clueless. I downloaded WoW through BitLord from Molten.
It's finished downloading and has seeded plenty. When I click "open", a popup appears reading: "Windows needs to know what program you want to use to open it." I have no clue what to do. Can someone help me in layman's terms please?
