my dad lost his job as of January 2 2014. How many weeks of unemployment will e be eligible for, he is 71 and?
the date of lay-off will be January 2nd 2014. i AM CONCERNED AND UNSURE WHAT HE WILL GET (How many weeks) as he should be retiring but will need this to live. does anyone know with the current law changing how many weeks he can get living in NY state, and if their still are extra weeks after the first 26 are exhausted.
my dad collects his social security but works full time. He was planning on retiring in two years after 50 years of full time. He lost his job therefore he will apply for unemployment. I am just wondering how long he can collect unemployment.

If he hasn't applied for Social Security yet he should immediately because there is no advantage to waiting past 70. If he gets another job he will still get all his Social Security.

So why doesn't HE ask the unemployment office? It might even be on their website.
