Paying to hand grade my ACT?

I took the ACT for a second time and my English grade dropped from a 33 to a 24. I'm not sure if there was an error with the grading, or it was smudged, but I think a 9 point drop within two months is ridiculous (or I'm just stupid).

ACT allows you to pay a $45 fee to have them hand grade your test.

Should I do it? Or did I just get really lucky the first time?

(On a side note, I raised my science from a 30 to a 35)

It depends on your overall scores. If your other scores went up (math, science) then it may be. If not, then it isn't worth it. A 33 is great and it probably won't get any higher even with accurate grading.

What was your Essay score? If you didn't answer the question of the essay prompt, but rather just wrote around the subject, you would have received a 0 or 2 on your Essay. Your Essay score is averaged into your final English score (representing 33.3% of the English score). If they haven't actually listed your Essay score under your section scores, then this is likely what happened.
